many of the verses quoted in the article above have nothing to do with clothing appropriate to any specfic gattering as in this case worship. Since so many verses were quoted, why leave out this one?
Matthew 22:11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ The man was speechless. 13 “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 22:11-13 is referring to salvation when speaking of wedding clothes, not clothes that one wears on the outside. That scripture don't even add into this situation at all. Someone is getting tossed into Hell at the end of 13...
For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. 11To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless,1 Corin 4:9-10
MINISTER: Short, No its not the finest clothes nor is it the poorest clothes that defines your heart. NO MAN should judge u of what u have on, unless it reveals naked skin or your clothes so tight that it shows the print of your body parts. Romans 12:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:19,
Now if your clothing is properly presented as a respectful man or lady there should be no problem. Even your clothes is dirty or smells as long as it is presentable. But rememer someone of the pastoral staff may address the dirty and smelling clothes with you on a private matter to help you to get clean clothing.
also; look at it from another stand point we do today have lots of Christians, people young and old wearing clothes thats is not presentable because of showing nake skin, dress to short, mems and women pants and shirt to tight, i think you get my point. so we as GODs leaders and His children must understand a dress code that is petesrntable and a dress code that is not.
I believe the Holy Spirit can reveal this to you if you seek His interpretation of scripture for you. If you pray for understanding when you read the Bible, you just may see it come to life in a different way than just black and white text. Spiritual things require spiritual understanding. "You will seek Me and you will find Me when you seek Me with all your heart." It doesn't say with all your mind, or with all your friends, or with all your online resources. But if you invite Him into your heart, He can speak to you in your thoughts, in any way He chooses, through anything He chooses, and you will find that there is more to His word than what the human mind sees when reading the Bible.
As for what to wear to church, if He reveals to you that you should dress a certain way, then you should dress accordingly. I am far from perfect, so don't take my understanding to heart unless it fits with what the Lord reveals to you personally, but my spiritual understanding so far is this:
Clothing represents the deeds that we have done. Therefore, nakedness represents a lack of good deeds with good intent from the heart. There are seemingly good deeds, which look good to man, but if they are done with the wrong heart (or intent) then they appear as rags (sack cloth) to God. Dressing yourself in good deeds is about having a relationship with God, which directs your heart through communication with the Holy Spirit (prayer), and brings forth fruit of His kind (your truly good deeds), which are like spiritual clothing for you when you stand before God.
Again, pray about this, and see if He will confirm it to you, or confirm to you that my understanding is wrong or incomplete.
